Lightyears: high grade functional lighting design from Denmark

The Danish lighting manufacturer Lightyears stands for the highest demands not only on the design, but even more on the functionality of a light. A lamp should not only look great, but also convince you as an object of daily utility on a professional level. Long-lasting components, smooth mechanics, a great feel and, of course, optimized light diffusion are the guidelines by which Lightyears develops highly successful collections with renowned designers. To achieve all this, diffusers are being developed from innovative materials, pleasant features such as touch switches, dimmers or spring joints are being installed and screen shapes are being calculated precisely on their reflective properties. The resulting lamp will always look like from one mold, not least thanks to the flawless lacquer. Nowadays Lightyears belongs to the Danish lighting and furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen, who started out in 1872 as a small furniture workshop in Copenhagen. In the early 20th century Fritz Hansen already equipped universities, town halls and the Danish Supreme Court. Today they provide a first-class collection of in-house design classics and innovative contemporary design.
